In short: Renewed engagement between Canada and India, seen at the 15th Annual Canada-India Mumbai Business Forum and the Team Canada Trade Mission, is reopening opportunities in trade, investment, technology and cross-border partnerships.
After almost eight years of engaging with the Canadian business and innovation ecosystem, it was genuinely good to see leaders from both countries reconnecting with renewed energy, ambition and intent.
The 15th Annual Canada-India Mumbai Business Forum, held alongside the Team Canada Trade Mission to India, reinforced the growing opportunity around trade, investment, technology and cross-border partnerships.
Why this moment matters
Corridors between countries move in cycles. When momentum returns, the businesses that benefit most are the ones that already understand the other market and have relationships in place. For Canadian companies, India offers scale, talent and a fast-growing consumer and enterprise base. For Indian companies, Canada offers a stable, innovation-friendly market and a gateway to North America.
Where the opportunities are
- Technology and innovation partnerships between Canadian and Indian companies, institutions and ecosystems.
- Trade and investment flows that open up as government-level engagement improves.
- Cross-border growth for founders building for both markets, including companies serving the large Indian diaspora in Canada.
Turning momentum into outcomes
Canada has always felt like a home away from home for me, so this renewed momentum is especially meaningful. At Unicorn Next, we look forward to contributing through market access, partnerships and cross-border growth, helping companies on both sides move from interest to real engagements through Xpanding Horizons.
